Being TRUE Archaeologists!

Today we spent all day at the Haynie's Site.  This property was once owned by people who did not honor the what they had and they bulldozed much of it out to build their home.  But now the property is owned by Crow Canyon Archaeology Center.  The artifact are being discovered in the proper way that respects the people.  It will take around ten years to complete the excavation of this site.

The had a long day of digging in the hot weather, they were awesome.  They were dedicated and treated their work respectfully.  The lead Archaeologist mentioned that she was impressed by our group of kids because of how they dug with respect, they followed the guidelines and they remained engaged the whole time.

They found all kinds of artifacts: pottery sherds including some from trade with people from Southern Utah (red pottery), a mano (used to grind corn), bones, skull bone, chip stones and pieces of charcoal.
