This post is from Alex Baker not Mrs. poff
Yesterday, thirteen kids on the Colorado trip went on a hike to view the Solstice Panel in the Hovenweep National Monument. Yesterday was the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. The hike was really cool and worth getting up at 3:45 in the morning and running two miles to reach the panel. On the summer solstice a beam of light shines really bright on the three spirals that the early people carved into the bolder that the light shines on. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity that will never be forgotten by the special group that I went with on June 21, 2017.
